The Marana Police Department is investigating a recent increase in vehicle break-ins. Neighborhoods that include Continental Ranch, Continental Reserve, and Gladden Farms have all been recently targeted. The majority of the property stolen was from vehicles which were left unlocked. A total of 14 vehicles have been broken into so far in January of 2017, which is above average for this time of year. Crime statistics also show an increase in vehicles being broken into during October, November, and December of 2016. Marana Police have arrested multiple suspects from several different groups who were connected to the majority of those thefts. MPD is proactively working to stop these vehicle break-ins and asking residents to be vigilant and report suspicious activity. Citizens can also reduce their chances of being victimized by always locking their car doors and not leaving any property inside their vehicle. We are asking anyone who may have information that can help identify the suspects responsible for these thefts to please contact the Marana Police Department. Citizens can call (520) 382-2000 or 88-CRIME.
